Sundargarh: Three persons were arrested and forwarded to court on Sunday on charges of looting gold ornaments and cash from a house after keeping the owner at gunpoint at Jagda under Jhirpani police limits.

The accused were identified as Sarfaraj Ansari alias Chinkua and Manwar Ansari of Lathikata and Dhiraj Kumar Sahoo of Malgodam. A county made pistol, a live bullet, masks and some stolen ornaments were seized from them.

According to police, the arrested trio was part of a six-member gang that entered the house of Nursingh Tripathy on July 11 and looted gold ornaments and cash from the house after threatening the family with sharp weapons and guns.

On the basis of a complaint, Jhirpani police registered a case and arrested three members of the gang. “Efforts are on to nab other members of the gang who are absconding,” said a police officer.
