Srinagar: At least three grenade attacks hit the Kashmir Valley on Friday, on the eve of India’s Republic Day, injuring one police personnel, the police said.
The first grenade exploded in Anantnag town when militants attacked a police post near the bus stand. Constable Sajad Ahmad suffered injuries in the blast.
The second explosion took place in Tahab area of Pulwama district when the Militants attacked a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp. But no casualty was reported. However, the Militants managed to flee after the police personnel opened fire on them.
The third grenade exploded near a CRPF bunker in Baramulla’s Sopore town this evening. The CRPF said that the militants missed the target and the grenade exploded out of the bunker’s proximity, causing no damage.
It may be mentioned here that Jammu and Kashmir Police chief Dilbag Singh had recently announced Baramulla as the first district in Kashmir Valley free of militant presence.
