Srinagar: Terrorists launched grenade attacks in Srinagar and Gagran area in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, officials said.
The northern state was rocked by two grenade attacks ahead of the Republic Day celebrations.
Officials said the first grenade attack was reported from Srinagar’s Lal Chowk. The second attack occurred at Gagran area of South Kashmir’s Shopian.
There were no loss of life or injuries. The grenade attack was on a CRPF bunker located at Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower) in Lal Chowk area.
The CRPF bunker as well as some shops and cars were damaged in the attack carried out by ultras. The grenade exploded on the roadside, officials said.
In the second attack at Shopian terrorists lobbed a grenade on a police camp in Gagran area. However, there is no loss of life or injuries.
Reports said this is third attack on security forces in the state in the past 24 hours. Terrorists had lobbed a grenade on police personnel at Zero Bridge in Srinagar on Thursday. Three policemen sustained injuries in the attack, the reports added.
The grenade attacks have come less than 10 days before the Republic Day celebrations.This is being seen as an attempt to disrupt peace by Pakistan-backed terrorists.
