Tension erupted in Sambalpur after double murder
Sambalpur: Tension prevailed in Sambalpur town after two persons were hacked to death in Thelakopada area on Monday.
As per reports, one Sujit Nag of Thelakopada was chased and allegedly hacked by a group led by one Pandava Mukhi near fire station in early morning. Although Nag was rushed to the Sadar Hospital in a critical condition, he was declared brought dead by attending doctors.
In a fit of rage, the supporters of Nag in retaliation hacked Mukhi’s brother Shankar to death and later they torched the house of Mukhi.
In view of chaotic scene, one platoon of police force has been deployed in the area. The town police along with SP Sanjeev Arora rushed to the spot and initiated steps to maintain law and order situation.
Sources said, groups led by Nag and Mukhi had a group clash few days earlier and the double murder is the result of the past enmity.
“Nag’s mother was attacked by Mukhi and his supporters few days back. Even though the matter was informed to police, no action in connection with the incident was taken. The double murder is caused due to the inaction of police”, alleged Nag’s uncle.
