Teachers to continue stir; threaten to resign en mass
Bhubaneswar: The agitating teachers under the banner of Odisha School College Teachers’ and Employees’ United Forum have decided to further intensify their strike across the state after the inter-ministerial committee meeting remained inconclusive here on Wednesday.
Talking to the media persons, convenor of the forum Golakh Nayak said, “The committee told us to accept the decision of the state government taken on 2017 as it cannot be changed right now under any circumstances. They asked us to give a three-month time for a change in the decision but we did not agree to their suggestion and gave them a week’s time to take a final decision.”
Nayak further said, “There is no point for seeking more time as it can be decided in a couple of days. We will further intensify our agitation and if necessary, we will tender mass resignation.”
Meanwhile, School and Mass Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra asked teachers to withdraw strike and sought three months time to consider their demands.
Notably, the teachers have been agitating at lower PMG in Bhubaneswar since Teachers’ Day on September 5.
