Teachers defer strike till Nov 30 after govt’s assurance
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha School Teachers’ and Employees’ United Forum on Saturday announced to defer the strike till November 30 after the state government gave assurance to look into their demands.
The announcement was made after the forum held discussions with Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi in a meeting held on Friday, informed forum president Prakash Chandra Jena.
In the discussion, the state government has also assured the agitating teachers to provide the salary of 46 days and clear 30-day salary dues of college teachers.
After getting assurance from the government, the block grant teachers and 662 category college teachers decided to defer the stir for a temporary period.
The state-wide teachers stir organised under the banner of Odisha School Teachers’ and Employees’ United Forum at Lower PMG in Bhubaneswar since August 16 sought benefits of 7th pay commission.
