Taxi drivers accused of rape arrested in Rourkela


Rourkela: The cab drivers accused of abducting and raping two minor sisters in Rourkela were arrested and produced before the court of Special Judge (POCSO) at Sundargarh town on Friday.

The accused have been identified as Krishna Maharana (22) and Asish Nayak (23). They were arrested by Jhirpani Police under Rourkela police district after the incident came to light on Thursday.
The sisters were kidnapped by the two cab drivers who took them to an RSP quarters at Sector-6 where the accused raped the girls overnight.

The victims were then dropped back near their house in the wee hours of Thursday by the perpetrators. While elder sister is a Class X student, the younger one studies in Class VII.

The accused were booked under various sections of IPC besides the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act.
