Tamil film fraternity announces donation for cyclone Gaja relief fund


Chennai: Actors from the Tamil film fraternity such as superstar Rajinikanth, Vijay, Suriya, and Vijay Sethupathi among others have announced to donate to the cyclone Gaja relief fund.

As rescue operations are underway in Cyclone Gaja affected areas of Tamil Nadu’s coastal and delta districts, several actors from the Tamil film industry have stepped forward to do their bit.

Superstar Rajinikanth in a statement to the media announced relief materials worth Rs. 50 lakh towards the relief fund.

Suriya along with his father Sivakumar, brother Karthi and wife Jyothika have together donated a sum of Rs. 50 lakh as relief fund through various NGOs in the cyclone Gaja affected areas.

“Sarkar” fame actor Vijay has donated around Rs. 40 lakh to 9 bank accounts of his fan club heads to help those affected by cyclone Gaja.

Actor Vijay Sethupathi, last seen in Tamil film “96”, has announced a relief fund of Rs. 25 lakh.



“2.0” director Shankar has announced a donation of Rs. 10 lakh to the Tamil Nadu CM relief fund.

Notably, Gaja made landfall in Tamil Nadu on November 16 and affected Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Pudukottai, Nagapattinam, and parts of Dindigul district. Over 40 people have died and over 80,000 people have been left stranded.
