Talcher Suraksha Manch launches protest, MCL work disrupted
Talcher: An indefinite protest has been launched by the Talcher Suraksha Manch on Friday demanding fulfillment of a 16-point charter of demands.
The agitators staged protest in front of different coal mines in Talcher demanding jobs, compensation and rehabilitation for displaced persons by Mahanadi Coalfields (MCL). “The people who have been affected by the industrialization should be rehabilitated properly,” said an agitator.
The demands also included measures for reduction of pollution in the city. They also demanded that classes in the Talcher medical college should begin by in the current year.
Coal production and transportation in collieries under MCL were disrupted due to the protest.
