New Delhi: Bollywood actor Sunny Deol on Tuesday joined the BJP and said youth required leader like Prime Minister who talk less and work more.
The Bollywood actor said he has joined the party to work with PM Narendra Modi like his father (Dharmendra), who had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party to support Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Deol is likely to contest from Gurdaspur Lok Sabha constituency in Punjab.
He joined the party in the presence of Union ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Piyush Goyal.
Worthwhile to mention that Sunny Deol’s father and veteran actor Dharmendra had also contested on a BJP ticket from Bikaner (Rajasthan) Lok Sabha seat in 2004 General Elections.
Dharmendra’s second wife Hema Malini is a BJP MP from Mathura. She is seeking a re-election from the same constituency in Uttar Pradesh.
The actor is best known for his roles as an action hero in super hit movies like Border, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, and Ghatak.
Punjab will go to polls in a single phase on May 19.
