Sundergarh Jailer in Vigilance net, found amassing properties of one crore


Bhubaneswar: Vigilance officials on Sunday conducted simultaneous raids at five different places including houses of Sundergarh Jailer on charges of accumulating properties worth around one crore which is disproportionate to his known sources of income.

As per sources, anti-corruption wing officials raided Jailer Syed Sahiruddin Ahmed’s two houses in city and one in Sundergarh where he is currently based.

Vigilance DGP RP Sharma said till now total properties worth about 1 crore including both movable and immovable assets have been confiscated as raids were still ongoing.

Meanwhile, his bank locker will be inspected on Monday when banks reopen after week off, he said, suggesting jail department to take stringent possible actions against the accused jailer.
