SUM fire tragedy: CM, PM sympathize for loss of lives  


Bhubaneswar: With gloom spreading all across Odisha following the horrific death of 22 patients in the fire outbreak in SUM Hospital on Monday evening, condolences from political bigwigs cutting all party lines ushered on Tuesday.

PM Narendra Modi, CM Naveen Patnaik, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, BJP President Amit Shah Heads of state BJP Basant Panda, OPCC Chief Prasad Harichandan, senior leader Jual Oram, Industrialist Naveen Jindal among others showed their sympathies on account of the nightmarish incident.

CM Naveen Patnaik visited AMRI and AIIMS hospital to inspect the health condition of patients and assured them of all help from the State Government. He promised that the expense of the victims would be borne from the CM relief fund.

Meanwhile, he alsum hospital fire updateso ordered and Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) level probe into the incident.

PM Modi showed his deepest anguish to the bereaved kin of the deceased victimized during the fire mishap. Assuring all kinds of support from Union Government he enquired about the severity of the situation during a briefing with the CM Naveen Patnaik. Similarly other leaders of state and national level also gave their supports and consolation to the family members of the victims.

At least 22 persons died while more than 100 have been injured during a sudden fire outbreak in the dialysis ward of the SUM Hospital on Monday. Although the reasons of the fire are yet to be ascertained it is suspected to have arisen due to a short circuit.
