Sukinda gang-rape case: Prime accused held

Jajpur: Police on Thursday night nabbed the prime accused of the Sukinda gang-rape case from Kapilas area in Dhenkanal district for his alleged involvement in the incident.

The accused, identified as Sabyasachi Beura, was apprehended following a joint operation by Jajpur and Kapilas police.

Acting on the complaint lodged by the survivor’s father, Jajpur police launched a manhunt to nab the accused and traced Sabyasachi, through mobile tracking.

After having the confirmation on his location, Jajpur police with their Kapilas counterparts conducted a raid at Kapilas area and apprehended the accused.

Notably, a girl of Sukinda locality was allegedly raped by two youths. They forcibly took the girl from a shop to a secluded area in their car and outraged her modesty.

Fumed over the incident, locals had also gheraoed the police station demanding immediate arrest of the accused persons.
