State pays tribute on Biju Patanaik’s birth centenary


Bhubaneswar: The birth centenary of the Odisha’s legendary leader, Biju Pattnaik is observed today as a valedictory ceremony to commemorate the statesman after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik flagged off a mini marathon event held at Biju Patnaik Park in Bhubaneswar.

The tributary ceremony continued at Odisha Assembly premises when  the CM garlanded the statue of Biju Pattnaik, who was born on 5th March 1916, served two terms as the chief minister of Odisha and was known for industrial reforms and social welfare driven schemes he introduced in the state.

birthWhile a meeting was arranged at BJD”s party office where workers and leaders paid homage to the “Lion of Odisha”,  The Biju Jayanti Utsav was hosted at Paradip and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik attended all the programs as the chief guest on this occasion.

birthThe grand meet was attended by state’s cabinet and council of Ministers, MLAs, MPs, BJD student wing activists and other BJD party workers.

“On his birth anniversary, I pay my tributes to the beloved Biju Babu. He served society with diligence & positively impacted many lives,” tweeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Similarly,   BJD legislator Ranendra Pratap Swain inaugurated a minister marathon from Anand Bhawan organized by the Veteran Sports Person Association in Cuttack.
