Cuttack: Taking note of the alarming rise in dengue cases in Odisha, the state government has decided to set up a special Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in the SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) to accommodate patients suffering from the vector-borne disease.
“The ICU will be built next to the central ICU and will start functioning in a couple of days,” said Dr Bhuban Maharana, emergency officer at SCBMCH.
According to reports, a number of critically-ill dengue patients are now undergoing treatment in other ICUs of the hospital. However, the new ICU would accommodate a total of eight beds.
