Mumbai: The verbal spat between Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut and a journalist at the song launch of her upcoming film Judgementall Hai Kya took an ugly turn as the Entertainment Journalists’ Guild of India has decided to boycott the actress.
Members of the Guild wrote a letter to producer Ekta Kapoor and demanded a public apology from both Kapoor and Ranaut, journalists present at the meeting said.
Two days after the actor’s spat with a PTI journalist at a promotional event, a delegation informed Ekta Kapoor about the decision on Tuesday. The journalists conveyed to the producer that they have decided to “boycott” Ranaut from future events until the actor apologises for Sunday’s incident.
Kapoor, who is producing Ranaut’s upcoming film “Judgementall Hai Kya“, agreed to issue the apology and expressed regret over Sunday’s incident, which has prompted a backlash against the star on social media, the journalists said.
During the event, Kangana accused a male journalist of running smear campaigns against her while the latter tried to ask her a question. The journalist denied all her claims. The conversation soon turned into a heated argument with other journalists also supporting the scribe.
Apart from Kangana, producer Ekta Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao were also present at the event. The incident has clearly not gone down well with the media fraternity who are now reportedly demanding a public apology from Kangana.
Meanwhile, Kangana’s sister Rangoli Chandel said that the actress would not apologise. “Ek baat ka main vaada karti hoon, Kangana se apology toh nahin milegi, in bikau, nange, deshdrohi, desh ke dalal, libtard mediawalon ko, magar woh tumko dho dho kar sidha zaroor karegi … just wait and watch, tumne galat insaan se maafi mangi hai,” she wrote on her Twitter.
