Sorcerer chants mantra to resurrect dead boy
Bolangir: In yet another instance of superstitious practice, the family members of a 15-year-old boy who died of snakebite sought the help of a sorcerer inside the postmortem room to bring him to life again.
The bizarre incident took place at a Government Medical College and Hospital in Bolangir on Thursday.
According to sources, the deceased, identified as Madhu Prayasingh of Digasira village under Sindhekela police limits was admitted to the hospital after he was bitten by a snake on October 2.
He was initially rushed to Titlgarh hospital from where he was shifted to Government Medical and College hospital in Bolangir. However, Prayasingh succumbed while undergoing treatment at the hospital at around 12 pm yesterday.
Although the doctors declared the boy dead, the family members called a sorcerer from Kalahandi district. Later, the sorcerer enchanted mantras inside the postmortem room of the hospital to bring the boy to life again.
