Soldier, civilian killed in Jammu and Kashmir gunfight; internet services suspended in Kulgam
Srinagar: An armyman and a Civilian were killed and two armymen were injured on Wednesday during an ongoing gunfight between the security forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgham District.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the district’s Khudwani area on Tuesday night, they said a gun battle broke out between the Militants and security forces in the early hours.
A protester, identified as Sharjeel Sheikh, 28, who sustained a bullet injury, have succumbed at a hospital, the sources said.
Two-to-three LeT militants were still holed up inside a house. Authorities have ordered closure of all schools and colleges in Kulgam and Internet services have been suspended.
