Skeletons of 14 infants found in Kolkata
Kolkata: In a shocking incident, decomposed remains of 14 newborns were found wrapped in plastic bags in Haridevpur area of south Kolkata on Sunday.
The skeletons wrapped in plastic bags were found when labourers were cleaning a plot of land. Later, police conducted a thorough search in the area, news agency ANI reported.
The skeletons were reportedly soaked in some kind of chemical to prevent foul smell. It was suspected that some abortion racket might be operating in the nearby area and the skeletons were dumped by them.
According to reports, the skeletons have been taken to the MR Bangur hospital for autopsy.
“Condition of skeletons can be determined only after postmortem. We’ll investigate. We’re also checking the CCTV footage in the area. A complete search will be done tomorrow morning,” said Nilanjan Biswas, DC (Behala).
