Sambalpur: After opening six sluice gates of Hirakud Dam in the morning, the authorities have now opened six more gates, owing to heavy downpour in upper catchment areas.
Currently, excess water is being released through 18 gates of the reservoir.
Notably, on Tuesday, the authorities had opened six gates to release excess water from the reservoir due to heavy rainfall in the upper catchment areas.
Reportedly, 2.25 lakh cusec water is being released through sluice gates of Hirakud against inflow of 2.98 lakh cusecs.
