Siblings killed in truck-bike collision in Sundergarh


Rourkela: A 14-year-old boy and his elder sister were killed when the motorcycle on which they were travelling collided head-on with a truck on a bridge a few metres away from Balishankara block office in Sundergarh district here on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Manas Baccha and his elder sister Anjali (17) of Telijor village under Balishankara block in the district.

According to sources, the incident took place in the morning when Manas and his sister were heading to Sundergarh on the bike. The minor boy riding the bike lost control while trying to overtake a bus and collided head-on with the truck coming from the opposite direction. They sustained grievous injuries and died instantly.

Tension ran high in the area following the deaths of siblings. The angry locals blocked the road demanding expansion of the bridge and compensation to the bereaved family.
