Siblings kill mother for pension money in Sundargarh
Sundargarh: An elderly woman was allegedly killed by her two sons for refusing to hand over them the money she had received as widow pension in Sundargarh district on Friday.
The shocking incident took place at Baragada village under Sadar police limits in the district. The deceased has been identified as Pikeswari Kisan.
According to sources, Pikeswari’s two sons- Naveen Kisan (30) and Bipin Kisan (28)-entered into a quarrel with her after she denied to pay them her monthly widow allowance of Rs 400. The sibling duo thrashed Pikeswari with a stick and subsequently hacked her with an axe.
The locals alleged that the sibling duo, who were married, often fought with their mother for money. The police reached the village and sent the body for postmortem.
While both the accused blamed each other for the death, the police detained the two for questioning. A probe is underway into this case, police said.
