Shame! Another girl gang raped in Odisha, six detained


Berhampur: While the state is yet to recover from the shock of Koraput gang rape case, a group of miscreants allegedly gang raped a college girl before the eyes of her fiancé at Khyatriyabarpur village under Gangapur police limits in Ganjam district on Monday.

The incident took place yesterday while the victim was on her way back from the Budhakendu temple along with her fiancé on a motorcycle.

As many as six bike-borne miscreants chased the motorcycle the victim and fiancé were travelling on and intercepted the duo a few meters away from the temple. They beat the fiancé of the girl black and blue and raped her taking turns dragging her into a nearby forest.

“We were returning from the Budhakendu temple after offering prayers at around 3.30 pm. Six bike-borne miscreants intercepted us a few meters away from the temple. They thrashed me brutally and snatched away 3 mobile phones from us along with cash worth Rs 1,000. Later, they took my fiancée into a nearby forest and raped her and filmed the incident on their mobile phones,” said the fiancé of the victim girl.

A complaint has been filed Gangapur police station and police have detained six persons on suspicion of their involvement in the case from the Khyatriyabarpur village.
