Cuttack: In an announcement on Monday, Shailabala Women’s College (SWC) Principal made an announcement about the autonomous tag of the institution.
Putting an end to the long standing demand for autonomous tag to the oldest women’s college in the state, principal Sanjukta Mohapatra said that the autonomous tag given by the University Grants Commission(UGC) has opened opportunities for launching of research-oriented programmes and higher studies at the institution.
Highlighting the institution’s strive towards imparting quality education since long, Mohapatra urged the students, faculties and the coming generation to help in maintaining the spirit of the institution to achieve greater success in the long run.
President of SWC Students Union Dipika Sahu said that their demand for autonomous tag has been fulfilled and this will usher in a series of changes which will be beneficial for the institution.
However, it may be noted here that a six-member team led by Santosh Satya of IIT-Delhi had made an assessment of academic infrastructure and developmental activities of the college during a two day visit to the institution during January this year.
