Seventh Pay Commission: Gov prepares Fitment Committee


Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has prepared a Fitment Committee to prepare a report on the guidelines and pay scale under the Seventh Central Pay Commission recommendations. Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan has been appointed Chairman of the six member Committee.

The Committee members include Home Secretary Asit Tripathy, Forest and Environment principal secretary Suresh Mohapatra, Finance principal secretary Tuhin Kant Pandey, two Special Secretaries of Finance Department Ashok Meena and Ashiwni Mishra (IA & AS).

The Committee will formulate a report on the guidelines and pay scale recommendations under Seventh Pay Commission and submit the report to state government within four months.

Once implemented, the recommendations of the Pay Commission will benefit more than four lakh state government officials and about three lakh pensioners.

Earlier on Friday, the Union Government gave its cabinet nod to fatter allowances for government officials by approving recommendations of the seventh pay commission. Under the new scale of pay, it has hiked Dearness Allowance (DA) by about 2 per cent.

The allowances which contribute about 63 per cent in the pay hike recommendation will be implemented with retrospective effect from August 2016.
