Series of drowning deaths claims seven kids lives in two days


Bhubaneswar: The state has been witnessing increasing number of deaths due to drowning in water bodies like ponds, rivers. In a span of two days as many as nine persons have died drowning in several parts of the state.

Two brothers identified to be Sekhar Sahu and Anshuman Sahu of Sanakhairamal village under Sadar Police limits of Bhawanipatna died today after slipping into deep waters of a local pond.

Earlier on the eve of Kartik Purnima and Boita Bandan utsav yesterday several drowning death cases were reported.

As many as five children were killed in separate mishaps while sailing handmade craft boats as part of Boita Bandan celebrations.

Rabindra Jena of Baunsasdia village in Balasore, a girl from Chotakanpaur village also in Balasore, two boys of Patkura area and another kid under Aul block in Cuttack died in separate drowning incidents.
