Separate road mishaps claim three lives, injures 12
Sundergarh/Nayagarh: Three persons were killed while 12 others sustained injuries in two separate road mishaps in Sundergarh and Nayagarh districts on Tuesday.
In the first incident, three persons were killed and two others sustained critical injuries after they were hit by a speeding SUV near Telanadihi village in Lephripara area of the district last night.
According to sources, the victims hail from Kurei village under Balisankara block, said a source. They had gone to Telanadihi village to attend an engagement function when a speeding SUV hit them while they were standing near the road.
The injured were immediately rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where they are undergoing treatment, added sources.
The driver of the SUV fled the spot soon after the mishap, sources added.
In another mishap, as many as 10 persons were injured after the tourist bus they were travelling in rammed into shops near Takara Village in Dasapalla area in Nayagarh district on Tuesday.
According to sources, the bus, carrying around 50 passengers, was headed to Puri from Bolangir when the driver of the vehicle lost control over the wheels and dashed into the roadside shops.
On intimation, police reached the spot and rushed the injured to Dasapalla hospital.
