Senior Police Officers’ Conference deliberates several policing subjects on Day 2

Bhubaneswar: The second day of 61st Senior Police Officers Conference, saw deliberations on several policing subjects made by senior officers of the State Police as well as experts from different fields.

DGP RP Sharma was present althrough the day and gave a brief introductory address in the beginning and moderated the deliberation of the conference. The welcome address was given by Susant Kumar Nath, Director SFSL-cum- Conference Secretary.

In the beginning of the session, Goa DGP Muktesh Chander made a presentation on “Investigation of Cyber Crime”. IGP Crime Arun Bothra coordinated the programme.

Sudhansu Sarangi, Director SCRB, gave a presentation on the subject “moving towards paperless Police Station” in the State. In his presentation Sarangi emphasised on the use of technology in the day to day functioning of Police at every level of administration.

A threadbare discussion was also held on the subject “Improving Road Safety”. Sanjeeb Panda, ADGP-cum-State Transport Commissioner gave a detailed presentation on “Road Safety Scenario”.

In the subsequent sessions of the conference, Prateek B Deshpande, Addl. DCP, State Intelligence Dept (SID) Maharastra Police, deliberated about the “monitoring of social media”. Ghanshyam Upadhyay, IGP, SIW moderated the deliberation.

In the second session, presentations were made on “Emergency Response System and Police Co-ordination”, Anti-corruption strategies and Recent Amendments in the PC Act. Rajesh Kumar, IGP Fire Services, gave his presentation on the “Emergency Response System” and Debasish Panigrahi, Director Vigilance, deliberated on Anti-Corruption Strategies and Recent Amendments in the PC Act.

The end of the session witnessed an open house discussion. Several specific issues from the field were raised by the SsP/DCsP and Battalion Commandants which were discussed minutely.

The Odisha DGP appreciated the efforts of young IPS officers for their successful performance in the Districts and spirited participation in the conference.
