IT seizes Rs 400 crore from tea seller
Surat: In a shocking development, on Saturday the Income Tax (IT) department conducted a raid at the premises of a tea seller and seized unaccounted assets worth Rs 400 crore.
The IT department also seized cash, bullion, jewellery and property papers from Kishore Bhajiyawala, the tea seller turned financer. He has 33 accounts in different banks. Cash of Rs 1.45 crore, with new currency money of Rs 1.05 crore, 13 kg gold and 180 kg silver were recovered from his bank lockers.
Kishore used to sell tea 30 years ago but now he is known as KK Financer Kishore Bhajiawala. As per reports Kishore and his two sons revealed the names of 13 builders with whom they had financial transactions.
He constructed a temple in Udhna and started a trust. He used the fund to convert black money to white in the garb of social welfare.
