NEW DELHI: In a predawn operation six terrorists were shot dead in a fierce encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district Friday.
The operation is underway in the area to flush out the terrorists. Security forces said the terrorists belong to Lashkar outfit.
The security forces launched a combing operation after getting inputs about the presence of terrorists in Sekipora village in Bijbehara. The region was nearly 50 km from Srinagar.
A gun battle ensued between the security forces and the Lashkar terrorists as the former closed in to nab them, sources said.
Weapons, including INSAS rifles, were recovered from the spot. Mobile internet services have been suspended in Anantnag as a precautionary measure.
Four terrorists were shot dead in a fierce encounter at a village in Shopian district a couple of days ago. In the encounter a soldier was killed and other three soldiers were injured grievously.
