Security beefed up in Puri for Snana Purnima
Puri: Ahead of the Snana Purnima rituals of the presiding deities of Sri Jagannath temple in Puri, security arrangements in the pilgrim city have been beefed up to avoid any untoward situation.
According to sources, 124 Sections of the police force and a special tactical unit (STU) will be deployed for the Snana Purnima rituals.
Besides, parking arrangements of vehicles have been made at eight places, informed Puri SP Umashankar Das.
Traditionally, the deities will be bathed with 108 pitchers of aromatic water by the servitors. While 35 pitchers of water will be poured on Lord Jagannath, 33, 22 and 18 pitchers will be poured on Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Sudarshan respectively.
Devotees will be able to witness the ‘Haati Vesha’ till late in the night after which the deities would be taken in ‘pahandi’ to ‘Anasar Ghar’ (sick room for deities in the temple complex) at Alarnath temple where they would remain under treatment by their physician for 14 days. Devotees can have darshan of Lord Jagannath at Alarnath temple in Bramagiri, around 25 km from Puri.
The deities will emerge from the sick room a day ahead of the Rath Yatra energised and invigorated in ‘Nabajouban darshan’.
