SCB Medicos cease work at casualty, ICU, emergency wards


Cuttack: Health services at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack have been severely affected today as the protestant PG students and house surgeons ceased work at casualty, emergency and ICU wards of the premier government hospital.

The medicos staged the cease work demanding stringent action against a patient’s attendant for allegedly attacking a doctor on duty. They had also filed a complaint regarding the matter at Mangalabag police station on Monday.

Reportedly, A patient namely Malati Mohanty from Jagatsingpur was admitted to TB ward in the hospital and eventually, died while undergoing treatment following which a irate relative attacked Sameer Ranjan Behera, a junior doctor, alleging negligence in treatment.

“We demand immediate arrest of the accused and stringent action against him according to Medical Protection Act. Besides, the security arrangement should be more tightened and a new rule should be enacted to avoid entry of multiple attendants’ into the ward, said Pritam Kar, president of PG doctors’ association.
