SC serves notice to Odisha CM, others on poll expenses case
Bhubaneswar: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday issued notices to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, State Election Commission (SEC), the district collector and the district electoral officer of Ganjam in connection with the dubious poll funding case.
Hearing the petition filed by Subash Mohapatra seeking transfer of the case to Delhi High Court, the apex court issued the notices and sought reply within three weeks.
Apprehending that the case might get influenced Mohapatra had petitioned the apex court seeking its transfer from Orissa High Court to Delhi High Court.
Mohapatra has alleged of gross discrepancies in sworn statements on poll expenses by Patnaik and his party.
“The Supreme Court has admitted our petition on the transfer of the case from Orissa High Court to Delhi High Court. The apex court has served notices to all the respondents including Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Election Commission of India to reply within three weeks,” said lawyer of petitioner Narendra Hooda.
