SC declines BJP plea for using loudspeakers at Bengal rallies

New Delhi: The apex court on Monday declined BJP’s plea challenging West Bengal government order prohibiting the use of loudspeakers in exam months.

It is seen as a setback to BJP which challenged the West Bengal government’s order prohibiting the use of loudspeakers during the months of February and March due to school examinations.

The apex court bench comprising Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Sanjiv Khanna refused to pass any order even as senior counsel Mukul Rohatgi invoked the fundamental right to reach the people.

Rohatgi sought the liberty of approaching the Calcutta High Court but that too was not accepted.
