Satyajit Mohanty takes charge as Twin City Police Commissioner


Bhubaneswar: IPS officer Satyajit Mohanty on Friday took charge as the Twin City Police Commissioner at the office of Commissionerate Police from his predecessor and 1990 batch IPS officer YB Khurania.

With this, the senior Odisha cadre IPS officer of 1988-batch has become the sixth Police Commissioner of the Twin City.

After receiving the guard of honour, Mohanty took the charge from the former Police Commissioner. Meanwhile, Khurania has been transferred as the ADG of Police (Provisioning).

Talking to the media Mohanty said: “It’s a huge responsibility and an opportunity as well, to serve the people. I will try to gain the confidence of the public and ensure better policing.”

He also said that the upcoming Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018, scheduled to be held at Kalinga Stadium here in November-December will be a challenge for the Commissionerate police.

Mohanty was the Additional DGP (Provisioning) before taking the new office. He had also worked as Superintendent of Police in Koraput, Rourkela, Cuttack and Balasore districts and Additional SP of Puri.
