Samajwadi Party leader shot dead by wife’s lover in UP
Sambhal: A 35-year-old Samajwadi Party (SP) leader was shot dead allegedly by his wife’s paramour in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Saturday.
The deceased SP leader was identified as Jagdish Mali.
According to sources, Mali entered into a fight with Dilip, with whom his wife had an affair, in Nai Basti locality under the Chandausi police station limits. During the scuffle, Dilip opened fire at Mali killing the latter on the spot.
On the basis of a complaint lodged by the deceased’s brother, a case has been registered against Mali’s wife and the accused. The police arrested Mali’s wife, while efforts are on to nab Dilip, who is on the run after the incident.
SP district unit president Firoz Khan said Mali was a hard-working leader. Mali had sought the party ticket for the chairman’s position in Chandausi local body election, he added.
