Safe, Herbal Holi to be focus in Patha Utsav on this Sunday


Bhubaneswar: The Patha Utsav in the city this Sunday would focus on several topics, but safe and green Holi by staying away from harmful chemicals and dyes during the festival of colours would be the central theme.

The street festival, which is getting thousands of visitors every week, has become a major place to disseminate social awareness besides non-motorised transport, cycling, skating and physical activities. Of late, awareness on the Swachh Bharat Mission has also gained a fan following.

Ophthalmologists are of the opinion that by playing herbal Holi and chemicals-neutral colours, one can prevent damages to skin, eyes and hair.

The Patha Utsav would also focus on eye care as the World Glaucoma Week starts on March 12. City based leading eye-care hospital will create a general awareness on Glaucoma and also have an awareness on eye-care during Holi.

Bakul Foundation will celebrate Holi or the festival of colours through its Library by showcasing  picture books from around the world that celebrates a colourful diversity.

India Craft Nation, a city-based organisation promoting art will organise a ‘Live Painting’ programme near the two stages.

Sanchari Vision of Life, a group dedicated to promote acting will organise street plays to educate youth on the acting technique.

Women In Society Help (WISH), a city-based women’s organisation will remind all participants that Women’s Day is not confined to a date.
