Romeo chained to bike, dragged to police station for harassing woman in Odisha
Brahmagiri: Locals today took the law into their own hands and dragged a youth to police station chaining him to a motorcycle for allegedly harassing a woman over mobile phone at Bhahmagiri area in Puri district.
According to reports, the youth, identified as Ramesh Bhoi, had been harassing a married woman over telephone for the last eight days.
Perturbed over repeated harassment, the woman discussed the matter with her family and relatives who decided to teach the ‘unknown caller’ a lesson.
A trap was laid to catch the ‘romeo’ following which he was lured to meet the woman at a place in Bentpur and was caught when he arrived at the spot.
The accused was tied to a bike and made to run behind the two-wheeler while a group of men on motorcycles followed him.
Interestingly, no one came forward to intervene into the matter but the mute spectators shot the act on mobile phones. The matter came to light after the video of the shocking incident went viral on social media platforms.
Police have detained both the accused and bikers for questioning.
“No case has been registered so far in this regard. If no one registers a case, we would definitely lodge a case. We are questioning the accused to ascertain the veracity behind the allegations,” a police official of Brahmagiri police station said.
