Rewari gangrape case: SIT arrests one, others still at large
Rewari: In a recent development in the Rewari gangrape case, the Haryana police along with an eight-member team of Special Investigation Team (SIT) has arrested one person in connection with the case.
The accused has been identified as DeenDayal, the owner of the tubewell house where the crime took place.
A case has been registered against DeenDayal under relevant Sections of the IPC. He has been taken into police custody for interrogation, police said.
On September 12, the 19-year-old victim was abducted by some miscreants of the same village when she was returning home from her coaching class. The miscreants took her in a car to an isolated place where they took turns to rape her and dumped her at a bus stand.
The victim had lodged a complaint with Mahendragarh police in this regard. Taking note of the report, an eight-member team of SIT was formed and probe launched to nab the culprits.
The team has nabbed one person while others are still absconding. The team also arrested a doctor who initially treated her and charged him with negligence. The vehicle, in which the girl was abducted has also been seized
Meanwhile, the woman’s mother today returned the compensation cheque which was given by the district administration saying they want justice and not money.
Earlier, on Saturday, the police also released the pictures of the three main accused. The police identified the army man who allegedly raped the girl as Pankaj, who is posted in Kota. The other two accused have been identified as Manish and Nishu.
