Revenue clerks put off stir
Bhubaneswar: The Revenue Department’s clerical staff on Thursday deferred their strike after an assurance from the Government to consider their demands.
More than 18,000 clerks working at the district Collectorates and Tehsils in the State have been protesting under the banner of Odisha Rajashwa Amala Sangha (ORAS) since August 11 demanding fulfilment of nine-point charter of demands which includes pay hike and abolition of contractual recruitment.
Besides, the agitators have been demanding a change to the minimum qualification of clerks to graduation along with special cadre status.
The State-wide stir had hit registration and issue of land records, preparation of bills for contract works, marriage registration and maintenance of revenue and tax records and issuance of various miscellaneous certificates among others.
