Red Ultras look to strengthen, organize ‘Prajameli’ in Malkangiri

Malkangiri : In what could be an open  challenge to the state police a ‘prajameli’ was conducted in the border area of Malkangiri district on Thursday.

Sources said, the people’s meet was organized on the backdrop of police actions against the extremists at Chitrakonda areas in Andhra Odisha cut off border area.

While police has been reiterating that Maoist influence has drastically decreased amid intensified vigilance and combing across the red alert areas, it has been somewhat of a challenge to the seemingly weakening groups.

The extremists are trying to reorganize their group by assembling innocent villagers from the cut off areas to strengthen their forces.

Notably, on October 24 last month in a biggest ever anti-naxal operation in state some 200 police personnel combining joint forces from Andhra’s Greyhound and Odisha police, SOG, CRPF, BSF swooped down on a camp gunning down 28 extremists notably top cadre leaders like Ganesh, Uday, Muna in the cut off Panasput forest in Chitrakonda area up along the Andhra Pradesh-Odisha border.
