Guwahati: Medium-pacer Rajesh Mohanty starred with the ball as Odisha defeated Assam by nine wickets in a group stage match of the Ranji Trophy held at Barsapara Cricket Stadium here on Thursday.
Rajesh Mohanty emerged as a star in the match with a total of 11 wickets in his account. The pacer bagged 5 wickets in Assam’s first innings and 6 wickets in the second innings.
After winning the toss, Odisha decided to bowl first. Assam managed to put up 121 runs with the loss of all wickets by the end of first innings.
Odisha took a 119 lead in the first innings with the scoreboard reading 240 as opener Anurag Sarangi scored the highest (77) followed by skipper Biplab Samantray (62).
In the second innings also the hosts struggled against Rajesh’s bowling and scored a manageable score of 132 runs on the board.
Odisha scored the required 13 runs in 3.3 overs with the loss of one wicket.
