New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed former Indian off-spinner Ramesh Powar as the Head Coach of the Indian women’s cricket team till next ICC World T20 Cup.
Powar, who was the interim coach of the women’s team, has now been appointed full-time coach till November 30, 2018,” the BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary said in a statement.
According to the BCCI statement, Powar’s term will include the tour to Sri Lanka in September, a bilateral series in West Indies in October followed by the ICC Women’s World T20 in West Indies in November.
Earlier, Powar was appointed as the interim coach after Tushar Arothe resigned in July. Powar is the third coach of women’s team in past one and a half year.
Apart from Powar and Arothe, the post was held by Purnima Rau, who was removed just a few months ahead of the Women’s World Cup in 2017.
