Bhubaneswar: As per the forecast by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre, the state witnessed rain today due to the cyclonic storm over the Bay of Bengal.
The cyclonic circulation over the north Bay of Bengal near Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border has brought in the much-needed change in the weather following which it is expected that the state will experience monsoon rain.
According to the latest forecast, coastal districts of Odisha will experience moderate to heavy rainfall today. This includes Khurda, Puri, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Balasore and Mayurbhanj districts.
The condition will prevail for the next two to three days. While the state is yet to witness a normal monsoon and most of the districts are reeling under the drought-like situation, the rain is expected to bring a sigh of relief.
