New Delhi: Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Friday took everyone in the Lok Sabha by surprise when played the popular Bollywood character ‘Munna Bhai’ by giving Prime Minister Narendra Modi ‘Jaadu Ki Jhappi’.
“You can abuse me, you can call me Pappu, but I have not an iota of hatred or hard feelings against you. But I love you and respect you because I am the Congress,” Gandhi said at the end of his hour-long attack after tearing into the BJP-led government during the no confidence motion.
The Prime Minister with a surprise took a little aback at first, then called Gandhi back and shook hands with him with a pat on his back. The two exchanged some words.
As the debate started on the no-confidence motion, the numbers in parliament dropped rapidly. Naveen Patnaik’s BJD walked out, and in a last-minute twist, ally Shiv Sena stayed away.
The opposition members gave Gandhi a standing ovation and thumped their desks, to which Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said such conduct was against the rules of the House.
