Mumbai: Former Congress MLA Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil has met Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and is likely to officially join BJP shortly, sources said.
Vikhe Patil, the veteran leader in Maharashtra politics, had quit as a Congress MLA a week ago.
Sources said Vikhe Patil met Fadnavis on Tuesday, even as there are speculations that the former Congress leader could join the BJP and be inducted in the Maharashtra Cabinet.
After submitting his resignation, Vikhe Patil had held a closed-door meeting with Maharashtra Chief Minister last week. It was believed that the two had discussed possible plans for the former’s induction in the saffron party.
Reports said ten Congress MLAs are expected to join the BJP along with Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil.
The sources said eight to 10 Congress MLAs are in touch with the BJP. They said they are disappointed with the Congress leadership in Maharashtra.
