Puri Srimandir’s servitors body boycott ‘Chhatisa Nijog’ meeting
Puri: The Puri Srimandir’s servitors body has decided to boycott the meeting of the ‘Chhatisa Nijog’ that is convened by the SJTA scheduled to be held today.
According to sources, protesting the affidavit submitted by the Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) to the Supreme Court in connection with Srimandir reforms, the servitors resorted to the boycott of the meeting.
Resentment was visible among the servitors’ body of the temple after the SJTA had filed a report to the apex court over the number of servitors required to perform duties at the Jagannath Temple in Puri.
While the SJTA report mentioned that only 36 servitors are needed to perform the daily rituals at the Holy Trinity’s shrine, senior servitors stated that at least 80 to 100 servitors were required for different rituals.
