Puri: While power restoration work in Puri is in full swing, the Grand Road (Bada Danda) will be lighted again today since 12 days have passed after cyclone Fani battered the Pilgrim City.
This was informed by the Executive Engineer of Central Electricity Supply Utility (CESU) officials of Puri Electrical Division.
Power has also been supplied to Balighata grid in Puri. Similarly, Sriramnagar sub-station also received power supply this morning. Electricity to the Courts, Atharanala, Charinala, and Baliapanda will be provided soon, officials informed.
However, the officials have urged the locals of Puri to be patient as power will be restored to every house after proper assessment.
Though restoration of power in Puri was a big challenge, the State government took all steps to provide essential commodities to the affected people.
The entire power infrastructure in Puri district has been devastated in the cyclone which damaged 75 towers of 220 KV and 25 towers of 132 KV.
Notably, cyclone Fani hit the Odisha coast on May 3 and tore through Puri with wind speed gusting up to 200 kmph.
