Privilege Motion against Naveen in Assembly
Bhubaneswar: Opposition leader Narasingha Mishra today raised a privilege motion notice against CM Naveen Patnaik based on alleged misinformation provided by the CM in a previous incident in the Assembly. Deputy speaker Sanand Marndi has said that the Speaker of the House, Niranjan Pujari will take the final decision on the notice.
Unlike most days of the current session, there was not much pandemonium in the Assembly and Question Hour and Zero Hour went on smoothly apart from Tara Bahinipati’s brief dharna in the House for Panchayat related issues.
During the Zero Hour, Mishra cited a reply presented on behalf of the CM by then Parliamentary Affairs Minister on August 5, 2010 and said that it gave misinformation on Mahanadi issue. “If the CM’s reply did not misinform then the BJD spokesperson who stated that the CM has given wrong information in the Assembly should be treated guilty,” Mishra said.
Lower Suktel and Bolangir Medical College project issues were also raised in the Assembly by Mishra and BJP leader KV Singh Deo. Both leaders demanded compensation for the displaced and to make Suktel project operational to support irrigation in Bolangir district. The opposition leaders also said that construction work should begin soon for the Bolangir Medical College.
