Politics over ex-serviceman suicide: Kejriwal announced Rs 1 crore for Ram Kishan’s family


New Delhi:  Politicians are leaving no stone unturned to grab limelight over the suicide of former soldier Ram Kishan Grewal who was protesting for One Rank One Pension(OROP). Ram Kishan’s cremation was done amid tight security on Thursday in the presence of hundreds of people including political leaders. Top leaders like congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, congress senior leader Kamal Nath had rushed to Ram Kishan Grewal’s village in Bhiwani, Haryana for his cremation ceremony of Ram Kishan.

Kejriwal’s government announced Rs 1 crore compensation to the family of Ram Kishan and also a government job has been promised for a family member.

Yesterday, Rahul Gandhi was detained twice by the police while trying to force into the hospital in spite of police protest. Over the death row, Congress and AAP have blamed the Central government.

Notably, Ram Kishan along with some other ex-servicemen was protesting over the issue of OROP at Jantar Mantar on Monday. According to his family members on Tuesday afternoon he consumed poision while he and other protestors were on their way to submit a memorandum to the Defence Ministry over the issue of OROP.
